More of the GREAT WALL exposed and framing started!

The GREAT WALL EXPOSED!

When you look @ the plans, it will make sense which wall this is!

So the framing is beginning

Opening for the patio doors and kitchen corner window and more floor joists
The first wall to be framed!

THE PLANS

So this is the Entry Level or Garage & Street Level
This is the Lake Side View of the House

This of course is the road side Garage Entry
Not sure how much rock we will actually put on!

As you are facing the lake this is the right or East side

So this is the Main Floor or 2 stories down from the street level

And this is the 2nd Floor from the top and from the bottom
The basement is below the main floor and not accessible from the main floor.

The GREAT WALL exposed! 6-28-11

So the Great Wall is unpaneled

A Linear view of it straight on

The side toward the road, with man to give perspective of size of it!

The Road side of it!  This is just one of the 4 walls for the
Box of the living space above
We now need to let it cure before back filling against it
We will start some of the rock retaining wall today (Wednesday)
Then the rest of the foundation walls and footings will be started on the road side of this
Great Wall!  Still more dirt to take away!

Photos of the GREAT WALL of Tanner Lake Place! 6-27-2011

A Linear view of the GREAT WALL
The thickness is 12 inches thick!

The Road Side of the GREAT WALL

The Lake side of the GREAT WALL-notice the guy on
top, that gives you a perspective of size!

A Close up of the GREAT WALL

The GREAT WALL and it's angled side!

The pouring of it should take place today for half and a couples days for the other half!

The next HUGE footing

Even though this was taken earlier, it gives you an idea
how much of a slope we are dealing with!

Leveling the area for the next construction phase
for the footings of the rest of the house

The Rebar is placed but there is a cave in of dirt on the corner
So the dirt is cleared out and they are ready to pour the footing

The angled part of the footing for entrance above

That is one HUGE footing with rebar sticking up for the
MASSIVE WALL

Now it really looks like a construction site!

Starting to put up the forms for the walls

The Setting of the I beam

So the support for the I beam is placed on either side

Then the crane lifted the I beam into place

John walking the I beam as they remove the ropes!

Clearing the area for the next phase

The Septic Tank is Moved!

We were so worried about moving the septic tank
as it weighs 14,000 lbs empty but they did it, so it is next to the basement walls level

Then they back filled over it

Footings for the basement storage

First, they dug a big hole and leveled it

Then the footings were re barred and poured
Then the forms were put up for the walls and poured the walls

Taking the forms off

We now have a cement box!
Then they tar emulsed it to water proof

After putting in a radon pipe they brought in dirt to make the floor
John walking the basement walls
after putting on the base of the floor joists

So the basement floor is poured

Putting on the floor joists or ceiling joists for the basement

Another angle of the basement!

Plastic over the subflooring to protect from elements
Notice some back filling has taken place

Tanner Lake Place

So Christine suggested we create a blog so all of those interested can log into this blog to see the progress of the cabin being built:

Just to give you some insight into what we have had to do to get to this point:

*Survey done in fall of 2008
*Title search in August of 2009
*Boundary line adjustment in January 2010
*Address search in March 2010
*Going before the board of commissioners for a variance in April 2010
   (this was the most traumatic)
*Going before the board again in September 2010
(we adjusted our power point to accomodare their wishes)
*Researching several contractors, excavators and taking them to the site
*Drawing up an easement only to be rejected by the neighbor and he had one drawn up and we changed some of the language before signing.  (The neighbor's house imposes upon our property boundary)
*Countless phone calls and trips to Newport to get things in order to further the process
*Working with a man named Wolf to get the plans on paper (he is good but challenging)
*Working with Robert who graciously drew up the structural plans (he is a structural engineer and Nick's counselor in the Bishopric) Because of him we will have a sound and well built structure!
*Permits are approved December 2010
*Footings are poured for the basement in May 2011
* Now working with a great contractor-Lonnie who sends us email photos almost daily to keep us up on the progress of the job!

This is a Computer rendition at the initial drawing!

Demolition Process! All done in October 2010

The OLD cabin going, going, almost gone.
Just the floor left to clear away

And then clearing away all the cement walls!
It's interesting to watch the destruction process!

All the trees and debris gone!

Now just virgin ground, a clear palet!
