The Siding is FINALLY started!

So Nick & I are in Oregon when they started.  When we got this photo, I realized the trim around needs to be as wide as the center so they are changing it today.

They finally got the right windows in after how many months! This is the kitchen window with the trim around it.

This is the HOT side of the house so notice we put an R-shield on the wall to keep the heat in or out depending on the season.  So the color is a muddy brown that goes well with the rock!

So here's the beginning of the exterior finally being done. We can't believe we are FINALLY doing the outside!

Looking out the window of the master bedroom.  If the windows were the correct ones, we could have also put the trim work around them, but we are STILL waiting for the correct replacements.  He also got the old mantle put on.  He did an excellent job fitting it to the opening.  Amazing work.

A close up of the main floor bathroom slate tiles that Lloyd laid this week.

Look how professionally  Lloyd scribed the wood to the rock of the fireplace in the master bedroom.

This is the wall that is opposite of the window in the master bedroom. The bed will sit against this wall.

A full wall of old cabin paneling in the master bedroom.
Lloyd has accomplished so much in a week's time-the paneling hung with wafer board behind first, both in the master bedroom and main floor bathroom, the tile laid in the main floor bathroom, a little framing, hanging the front door and getting the deck going.  He got about a third of the deck done today.  He is truly amazing, smart and knows what he is doing!!!

This is the slate tiles of the main floor bathroom.  We hope to get it functioning so we can get rid of the Porty potty!  And yes it is the cedar wood from the old cabin walls.  Makes you feel nostalgic!

This is looking through the window @ the decking, not a very good picture but lots of progress!

Also Lloyd has been working on the deck.  It was scary seeing him put the ice shield on each of the framed boards to prevent decay.  He is so clever and knows so much about building and doing it well.  It has been an absolute delight to have him working for us.  We were so grateful he could take the time away from his work.

The Front Door is hung!!!!

So many thanks to Kate, Tillie, and Lloyd for this door.  Kate made it, Tillie did the stained glass and Lloyd hung it  yesterday.  It is incredible and we feel so privilaged to have such talented siblings.  What a huge amount of work went into it.  Thanks and many thanks to all!!  It is incredibly beautiful!!

To see it up close and with light coming through the stained glass, is a treat for your eyes!  It is such a delight to add to the place!

Lots of Insulation!

So Nick went crazy taking pictures of the before and after on the insulation.  Try to guess where each picture is taken!  And then I will tell you hopefully!!!
This is the 3 windows you look out over the lake as you come in the front door!

These are some of the trusses!

This is the temporary front door.  Keep going and you will see the beautiful front door hung!

Front entry looking into one of the single garages!!!

Over the top of the stair case ceiling!

This is the guest bathroom window and the ceiling is the floor of the garage and entry!

Closet of a guest bedroom, the only bedroom that has a closet!

Wall of one of the bedrooms.  Little moisture gathered on the floor.  We had to take this insulation down and blow foam on these walls @ the request of the inspector.  Just another grand!

The Fireplaces

The main floor fireplace near completion-two floor samples next to it-insulation also next to it!
The mantle is very lovely-burled wood, but it is kind of camouflaged!

A long shot of the fireplace with the stained glass window-different lighting!

The master bedroom corner fireplace, just needs the mantle put on and the cover plate for the gas insert

So it seems as if things have come to a halt but they haven't!  The insulators just finished insulating
and have had the my plumber there finishing the plumbing that should have been done with
the rough in. Have been getting dry wall bids and moving stuff out of storage. We had
the inspector come through and he wanted us to do more insulation which the insulation guy said,
he has been in the business for 35 years and never seen that request!  Makes you wonder!

Lloyd is going to come and put the cedar wood from the old cabin up in our master bedroom walls.
We had to have the cement guy come and jack hammer out 7" of concrete to find the box for the drain of the bathtub before the plumber could put the p-trap on!  Just lots of little things to think of before the drywall is put on.  Am getting bids for other things and also we are still waiting for the windows to be corrected before we can have the siding put on.  Hopefully they will be put on this week or next week but I just don't hold my breath any more because it has taken months for them to decide to get the replacement windows!!!

Finally the excavation is done in front!

So the front is rolled and filled and ready for the next phase!

Garage doors, stove inserts, masonry, excavation, and bids day!

So it is starting to come together with logs, rock and now garage doors!

Excavation is taking place today along with stove inserts being installed, masonry on fireplace inside, garage doors being installed and other bids!  Busy day!

So one of the panels is off on the nmiddle garage door, but overall it looks great! Just another glitch in the construction process!
